How to TAKE a BREATH!

Before the end... Begin!

I thought that I would carry my middle child into 2017. As bad as he wanted to walk - something was delaying his unassisted steps. But, with only a month left in the year - I had yet another reason to give thanks. He took his first steps Thanksgiving day….

It feels like January 1, 2016 was just the other day. However, January 1, 2017 is right around the corner. I don’t know about you, but I definitely remember cautiously planning my 2016 goals. I wanted them big enough to prove God’s eminence but timely enough to be accomplished within 365 days.

Well, now we have one month left and uh…there are a few things some of us haven’t even started on. No worries - you aren’t alone in starting but, before the end... you must Begin!

I read that trophies aren’t reserved for those with the best beginning. That means you still can create a great ending for 2016. #FinishStrong

Through research, I discovered that an average human at rest takes:
  • 16 breaths per minute
  • 960 breaths an hour
  • 23,040 breaths per day
  • 8,409,600 breaths per year
How many breaths do we have left until the end of our year, our dreams, our goals, and even our life? Who has a breath strip?

Recently, I questioned the tools for defining our days. Although the authorship is debated, I came upon a vibrant statement, “Life isn’t measured by the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away.”

I agree and add that even though pursing and obtaining our goals can be breathtaking, we must begin our goals by TAKING a breath and beginning.

Fear is 100% dependent on you to survive. Focus your faith, feed your faith and Take a Breath.

Philippians 4:13-14 says, “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[a] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us” (NLT).

Don’t take the air you breathe and the mornings you experience for granted (James 4:14). Instead of allowing another day to pass – Take a Breath, Take charge and Take control of the last few days of 2016.

November 18th, Simon Berry achieved the highest bungee dunk world record on Guinness World Record Day. His goal was simple. Dip a biscuit into a cup of tea. His method was spectacular! Launch from a metal basket 240 feet and 10 inches in the air while attached to a bungee cord and carrying a chocolate confection. After 35 previous attempts and 15 on the day of the event, he dunked it!

So, what’s the point?

Right before Simon dunks his biscuit, he stretches or presses just enough to reach his goal.

You are far from the creation of your year beginning goals but you are close enough to achieve them -TAKE ANOTHER chance. You are closer to winning than you think.

If you just PRESS a little further, give it 5 more minutes, or simply start again you will achieve your goals. I have started over a bunch of times and seen defeat a bunch of times but the year isn’t over and the cameras are still rolling. Let's go!

Get in the basket and...
