Do it for the vine!

Do it for the vine!

John 15:5
New Living Translation (NLT)
5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

A viral Internet video or Vine that has captivated people of all ages showcases a young girl dressed in a dance leotard and an older girl making beats on a chair. The older girl commands the younger girl three times to, “Do it for the vine.” The younger girl responds twice by saying, “I ain’t gone do it!” On the third request, the little girl breaks out in a full-out dance to the rhythm of the older girl’s chair drumming. It’s quite hilarious!

The bible teaches us that Jesus is our TRUE vine - the source for all that we need to grow and be vibrant. Yet, when we are challenged about our blessings, we cower or try to take full responsibility. Like a child who wants to claim independence without full understanding – a face plant is soon coming.

Catch these three points and you will not only recognize your source but also proclaim his dominance and serve him joyfully at a moment’s notice!

Reject & Accept
John 15:2 New Living Translation (NLT)
2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.

A great parent allows their children to grow but they are careful to prevent them from growing wild. Parents want their children to be successful but they do not leave them to grow unmanaged. There has to be correction and redirection. God, who is the vinedresser to your source, wants to see you achieve great success so He will correct you also. Just as a flower without sun is dead – you without the son are absent from the sustenance you need to survive. Reject anything that will block you from your source and accept God’s challenges that are pushing you to grow.

Remain
John 15:4 New Living Translation (NLT)
4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.

Your personal and professional success is rooted in your sustainability. Jesus easily relays that unless you remain in me you cannot be fruitful. Our relentless tenacity to trust and tie to our source is paramount. The great thing about hold on to your source is that aggressively He holds you even when your grip is loose.

Rejoice
John 15:7-8 New Living Translation (NLT)
7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! 8 When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

What father with a loving relationship denies his child? When your ultimate goal is to please and magnify your source – the rewards are endless! Fruit never ask the vine to feed them, it does it automatically. However, when the fruit is matured, if it does not give back, its seed, the possibility of more fruit being made is diminished. When you are blessed – you must acknowledge your source and inform others about your source. The vine is for you and anyone that connects to it.

Do it for the vine! He has saved, delivered, healed, provided, secured, and more – that’s enough reason to dance and tell it all!

*side bar* Parents don't like telling their child to do a task more than once - the next time God prompts you to do something - do it the first time. It will save you time and trouble...
